It’s about surviving addiction and stigma, reclaiming identity, and transforming lived experience into purposeful action. It’s about breaking silence through books, poetry, films, and public speaking. It’s about building nonprofits like Generation Hope, fighting for recovery, and amplifying voices from communities too often overlooked.
I’m an author, TEDx speaker, consultant, and community leader—but beyond the titles, I’m someone who knows what it takes to rise when the odds are stacked against you. My work blends lived experience with strategy, turning real stories into lessons that inspire audiences to think differently, act boldly, and believe in their own ability to change.
My latest book, Who Would You Be Without the Fear of Judgment?, challenges people to confront conformity, silence, and shame—showing them how to step into their truest selves. Combined with my poetry collection, From Addict to Advocate, and my documentary, The Forgotten Ones, my work gives voice to struggles most people are too afraid to name.
I’ve shared those truths on stages like TEDx Minneapolis and earned recognitions such as the International Somali Award and the Public Health Hero Award. But my mission is not about accolades—it’s about creating impact in every room I step into, from classrooms and conferences to boardrooms and community halls.
